Redbox is one of the leading DVD rental companies in the North America with new movies and promotions coming out at rapid pace. At Mhdezign we created print and web promotional materials daily as well as collaborating with Redbox in-house team on their creative journey to re-brand. Every once in a while Redbox did not have permission to use original box art from the Studio, in this case we were asked to create alternative box art which could not resemble the original in any way nor use any of movie material. This was always a fun challenge.
Sagent Pharmaceuticals is a forward-thinking specialty injectables company that hired us (at mhdezign) to design labeling system which differentiates itself from the rest. Labeling that stands out and clearly identifies the drug name and strength in order to prevent medical errors.
Sagent was honored with a prestigious “Chicago Innovative Award” and was chosen as a No.1 on Crain’s Fast Fifty 2013 — the list of 50 fastest-growing public and private companies in the Chicago area based on five-year revenue growth.
Olympia Foods is a Chicago-based company that specializes in manufacturing of Greek food products. The company needed a new look (identity, collateral) for today's market since their existing identity was developed back when Olympia was founded in 1972. Of course new look couldn't be more complete with photography done by the best food photographer in town - Brian Wetzstein!
This is a self-promo poster created at mhdezign for our clients and friends. Everything in it was designed, photographed and hand illustrated by us (team of 3). You can also enjoy a closer look at some of the photos here!
A set of cards which were created to celebrate individuality. Each card represents a different season and has hand illustrated typography and artwork. The message is to be yourself and once you are, you will see why (BE YOU, SEE WHY). Each card also has a list of attractions to do for that particular season. You can send these cards as a set or as individual inspirational cards to say Thank You or Happy Birthday. Large posters were created based on the cards.
Student Seasonal Mailers are marketing pieces used by the ADA to highlight benefits, resources, opportunities that are available to students with ADA membership. This years design series concept is to show 5 different resources in each mailer which the students will be able to use while in school. Getting the most out of the mailers was the primary goal and this will give them some shelf life!
The full page ads were created to be launched internationally within dental magazines to promote new members to join the ADA. The ads were also used as large light boxes at trade shows throughout the year.
An identity for a new clothing brand which is 100% made in the U.S. The logo comes from the idea that no matter what you do in life, be the best that you can be. Like a Ninja. We had the client hand write the brand name and it turned out to be a huge part of the overall branding. Along with the logo, we created a color palette inspired by Japanese nature and typography that is easy to use in print and web campaigns. We’ve also designed some promotional pieces which include hologram stickers, multi-use wrapping paper, product packaging for shipping purposes and some personalized print collateral each customer receives when they make a purchase at LeNinja.com.
The Pampered Chef has been catering to household chefs around the world for many years. Here are some designs for their cook books. Each design has its own unique feature*. For example, we utilized QR codes to bridge the gap between print and web, making shopping for ingredients an easy task. We even developed a tab-system for chefs to conveniently bookmark their favorite recipes. All food photography shot by Brian Wetzstein.
MBlock & Sons facilities hold anything from Keurig coffee machines to Crate & Barrel vases nationwide. This 100 year old logistics center got a brand new logo and stationary to go with it. Logo as well as this natural recycled paper was inspired by the cardboard boxes that this center is filled with from top to bottom. The M is embossed to add a little character.
Who doesn't like some real Italian cooking? In the book “Mamma Agata Simple and Authentic” you will find the best. Mamma Agata and her daughter Chiara Lima from the Amalfi Coast, published the cookbook which was only available in Europe. With the launch and availability of the book in North America, we were asked to create a media kit which was sent to bookstores, media companies and newspapers to help promote the book.
Art for Haiti 2011 and 2012 both had distinct identity. In 2011 we used our own handwriting to develop a brand. In 2012 we created a block-like typeface to symbolize the re-building in Haiti. The identity we created was utilized in everything from invites and posters to canvas bags and home-made cookies. Together, we helped raise $32,000.00 for the Global Health Relief Fund. The money will be used to send medical staff to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. It was a pleasure to be part of this inspirational project and true labor of love.
A Chicago based marketing agency specializing in European markets was looking for a powerful brand makeover.
Design Strategy: Revamp the original logo, add a European twist to the stationery and create a website targeting their transatlantic audience. The Bonus: We got to use different languages and shoot the photos!

Call To Action is a Catholic movement working for equality and justice in the church and society. At mhdezign, we did a couple of projects for them, all with a very limited budget including an annual report and few conference programs which were all 2-color jobs.
In the annual report client had the idea of “A New Life, New Church”. We came up with a concept where dots coming together create images of people who are the body of the organization and church.
A client wanted to have some wearables for her husbands birthday pub crawl. And with her direction, we created something fun to walk around the suburbs in … with a beer in hand of course! Oh, we also added a train schedule so they don’t miss it.
Club Kiddo is a guide book that was created as parent aid in teaching their children discipline and responsibility. Kids earn Club Kiddo points for various house duties and good deeds, once they saved enough they can exchange them for extra play, TV or game time or actual money. This teaches children the value of the money and how it is to work for something they really want in life.
It's a fun way to explain the value of the money and discipline at the same time.
